Midfielder Scott Arfield has hinted he will be staying at Rangers for the foreseeable future, despite reports linking him with a move away from Ibrox this summer.

The Daily Mail reported last week that he had emerged as a target for English Premier League outfit Southampton ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Although Arfield hasn’t been quite as consistent as some fans would have liked this season, he’s still been one of the signing hits of Steven Gerrard’s time at the club, so supporters should be delighted by his confident pledge.

However the 30-year-old, valued at £2.25m by Transfermarkt, appears intent on cementing a winning legacy at Rangers, indicating he will be staying for the duration of his current contract which runs out in 2022.

Do you think Rangers will win trophies next season?

As quoted by The Daily Record, the Canadian international said: We had a big turnover at the start of the season and in January and it takes time for it all to cement and to get a trophy this year would have been a bonus with the number of players who came in and out.
