Aberdeen spilled two precious Premiership points in the race for second spot as the Scottish Cup semi-finalists were held to a 1-1 draw by Livingston at Pittodrie.

The Reds remain eight points behind second placed Rangers in third and one above fourth placed Kilmarnock with eight games left in the campaign as their poor home form continues.

It was the Reds who drew first blood in this one when Niall McGinn superbly volleyed low into the net following Connor McLennan's cross from the right for his sixth goal of the season on 31 minutes However, the Dons lead lasted until two minutes before the interval when Keaghan Jacbobs long free-kick was nudged on to Craig Halkett who chested down and drilled across the face of goal for Craig Sibbald to supply the finishing touch.

That made it six for the season for McGinn who is hitting a rich vein of form as the Reds scrap with Rangers and Kilmarnock in the race for second spot.

He produced an exquisite cross for Niall McGinn's opener and was the best player on the park.

Declan Gallagher had the ball in the net for the West Lothian outfit after the restart but it was rightly ruled out for offside and Lewis Ferguson slammed over the crossbar from 12 yards in a poor second half which saw both sides cancel each other out.

It has been a great week for the teenager after his goal against Rangers at Ibrox.
