The Scottish football new normal means we won't have fans at Premiership matches until at least September.

That absence of fans was particularly keenly felt in the opening match of the new campaign.

Ordinarily Aberdeen vs Rangers would be one of the most raucous atmospheres in our game, but Pittodrie stood empty apart from substitutes and seagulls.

That doesn't mean though that no Dons fans were able to experience the game.

Eagle-eyed viewers watching the match on Sky Sports were able to spot a pair of Aberdeen fans watching the match from a strategically-placed cherry picker.

The two had even arrived with a Dons flag for the occasion, though it's fair to say they might not have had the best view of the action.

It's not the first time this summer Scottish fans have found slightly unconventional ways to watch their team in action.

A group of Hamilton Accies fans took in their friendly with St Mirren by standing on some upturned trolleys at the nearby Sainsbury's.

Given how committed Scottish football fans are, there are sure to be many other creative solutions to the closed doors situation in the weeks to come.
