Rangers have called for the SFA’s disciplinary system to be overhauled after Allan McGregor lost his appeal against a two-match ban.

The confirmation of McGregor’s two match ban follows hard on the heels of an SFA review panel dismissing a red card appeal from Alfredo Morelos in the same game which saw the Colombian striker cop a three match suspension.

A review panel found Rangers guilty of breaching two disciplinary rules after the Ibrox side slammed Collum’s decision to send of Daniel Candeais for a second yellow card in a stinging statement.

A Rangers spokesman said: “Rangers has no option other than to accept this decision.

McGregor copped a two-match ban last week from a review panel and after his unsuccessful appeal on Thursday, he will now miss Saturday’s Premiership clash with St Johnstone and next week’s Scottish Cup replay against Kilmarnock.

“Rangers has been in dialogue with the Scottish FA on this topic for some time and would urge that the system is now thoroughly reviewed as a matter of extreme urgency.” It’s the second time Rangers have called for a review of the compliance and disciplinary system this season.

Rangers had earlier called for a “fundamental review of the rules relating to red cards which result from two bookings of a player in a game”.
