ANDY Halliday is targeting consistency if Rangers are to continue their title challenge into 2019 but says the Gers are only getting better.

The Light Blues sit level on points with Celtic at the top of the Premiership, with their city rivals having a game in hand.

Halliday has become a vital part of Steven Gerrard’s squad this season, being deployed in a number of positions and he believes he is becoming a better left-back as the weeks go by.

“I try and help as best I can, whether that is a new player coming in to try and help him settle into the squad or get the best out of the other players, that’s what I try and do.

“It means a lot coming from someone of the gaffer’s stature; he was a captain himself for a long period of time at his boyhood club.

Speaking to RangersTV in Tenerife he smiled: “We are extremely positive right now, we have been positive all season and we have shown our capabilities.

“It’s exciting because we have done well for the first six months but we are actually going to get better.”
