Dave King has led the tributes to Rangers legend Bobby Brown who has died at the age of 96.

King said: “All of us connected with Rangers are deeply saddened to hear that Mr Brown, a genuine Rangers and Scotland legend, has passed away.



Rangers have announced that a minute's silence will be held prior to their Scottish Cup clash with Stranraer on Friday night.



Brown had an incredible record of six years without missing a league match for Rangers between August 1946 and April 1952.

He was a gentleman of the game and set standards which typify what Rangers is about.” Brown was inducted into the Rangers hall of fame in 2002 and into the Scottish football version in 2015.

Brown was a member of the famous ‘Iron Curtain’ defence for Rangers that included the likes of George Young and Jock Shaw.

He won three league titles and only played part time throughout his Ibrox career, having also been a schoolmaster.
