Celtic new boy Moritz Bauer admits he was surprised to receive an apology from Jordan Jones for his horror derby tackle.

The Rangers winger was shown a straight red card in the final minute of 2-0 victory for Neil Lennon's men and ended up injuring himself in the incident.

It has also led to Jones being left out of Steven Gerrard's Europa League squad and his moment of madness could leave him struggling to get back into the Ibrox side.

It's a badly timed tackle and luckily I didn't injure myself.

Bobby Madden had no hesitation in showing the red card and Jones has been heavily criticised but Bauer feels it was nothing more than a bit of frustration.

"There are no bad feelings at all.

"Because I didn't injure myself or anything I didn't expect a call but it was a very positive surprise.
