High level talks over controversial changes to the structure of the Champions League have been postponed by President Aleksandr Ceferin.

Scottish clubs have been watching high-powered discussions closely with a number of radical changes to the Champions League and Europa League having been mooted in recent months.

Premiership sides fear being further sidelined in European tournaments as the continents' elite clubs push for a European Super League.

Worryingly for Scottish clubs fearing being pushed further out into the cold, one of the plans presented by UEFA would see 24 of the 32 teams in the Champions League group stage keep their place in the competition for the following year.

The Juventus chairman has received criticism for supporting a largely closed Champions League and has seen his main idea of restricting access to the competition strongly opposed by both the European Leagues group and a number of ECA member clubs.

Celtic were faced with four rounds of qualifying before the lucrative group stage of this year's competition - with the Scottish champions falling at the third hurdle this week.

Meanwhile, the ECA has also called for the Champions League's current four-team groups to be doubled so that each contains eight sides.
