Charlie Adam revealed he has returned to Dundee to help support his mum in her cancer fight.

The former Scotland and Liverpool star had been in talks with Dundee for several weeks but when he got the bombshell family news last week he decided it was time to come home.

“I keep referring to my age but age is just a number and it’s important that we can come here and help these young kids play and have that security and try to be as successful as we can.”

An emotional Adam, who lost his dad Charlie in 2012, said: “I’ve got an issue with my mum.

This feels right.

It’s a two-year contract.

I’m delighted that I’m here.” Fintry boy Adam, who spent last season at Reading, admitted the chance to return to Dundee was a no-brainer.
