Craig Levein has suggested Celtic and Rangers could use their Euro millions to install VAR in Scottish football.

"Maybe the Old Firm will give up their European money to put VAR in for everybody."

Now, ahead of Hearts' Premiership clash at home to Motherwell on Saturday, Levein reckons video assistant referees (VAR) could be installed to help our under-fire officials.

He said: "I read recently that Ajax gave up their European money to take up the plastic pitches and put down grass pitches for the rest of the clubs in the league.

And he reckons the Old Firm could help pay for the system's implementation through the money they make from the Europa League.

Levein could be in hot water with the SFA after slating the display of the officials in last week's 2-1 defeat to Rangers, claiming it was like his side were up " against 13 players".

Levein slammed Bobby Madden and his officials last Sunday after Alfredo Morelos scored from an offside position to secure Rangers a 2-1 win at Tynecastle.
