Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty has emerged as a transfer target for English Championship Rotherham, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

However, with midfield competition at Rangers now tougher than ever after the Steven Davis and Glen Kamara deals, is there room for the player in Steven Gerrard’s first-team squad?

The former Hamilton Accies man has scored seven goals and created another seven assists in 29 appearances during his time at Shrewsbury, with many Rangers fans keeping a keen eye on his week-to-week progress.

It seems he’s making a name for himself with the paper reporting that Rotherham boss Paul Warne sees him as a viable option as they battle relegation from the English second-tier.

Docherty recently opened up about his absence from Ibrox, making it clear he would love a return as soon as possible.

I’d love to see him make it here given his admiration for the club and hopefully Gerrard sees long-term potential in him.

The 22-year-old has been spending the current season out on loan at League One side Shrewsbury Town, catching the eye with a number of exceptional performances.
