Tributes have poured in for Fernando Ricksen after the Rangers legend sadly passed away this morning.

Aberdeen tweeted: "Our thoughts are with the family & friends of Fernando Ricksen who has sadly passed away following a brave battle against Motor Neurone Disease."

The former Ibrox defender died after a horrible battle with motor neurone disease at the age of 43.

BT Sport reporter Emma Dodds, who previously worked at Rangers, said: "So deeply saddened by the news Fernando Ricksen has passed away.

His former team Zenit said: "We're deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our former player Fernando Ricksen.

Brave Fernando revealed back in 2013 he had motor neurone disease."

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell also reacted to the tragic news: "Everyone at Celtic would like to extend their most sincere and heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the family of Fernando Ricksen following today’s news that he has passed away.
