Former Rangers and Hearts striker Kyle Lafferty has shared his bumper bonus for escaping relegation with his team mates at his Norwegian club.

Sarpsborg defender Niklas Gunnarsson said: "Kyle told us before the match that if we managed to avoid relegation he would share the bonus.

Lafferty departed Ibrox on a free transfer before the start of the season.

But generous Lafferty decided to share it with his Sarpsborg colleagues rather than pocketing the cash for himself.

The 32-year-old surprisingly joined Sarpsborg in August in a desperate bid to save them from relegation.

The club's manager Geir Bakke said: "Yes, I've heard about this!

His club's 0-0 draw with Lillestrom meant they escaped relegation and the far-travelled striker received a chunky windfall as part of his deal.
