Former SFA chief Gordon Smith believes Rangers could refuse to play at Rugby Park as "payback" for Kilmarnock cutting their ticket allocation.

But now, in a bizarre claim on PLZ Soccer , former Ibrox star Smith believes Rangers could boycott travelling to Rugby Park altogether - an extreme move that would likely land them in hot water with the authorities.

"Rangers might even say 'we won't come and play at Rugby Park anymore'.

Rangers later hit back at the revelation and suggested they could refuse future allocations in light of Killie's decision.

An Ibrox spokesman said: "We are disappointed with the decision, which will force us to consider carefully what application we will seek for future matches at Rugby Park."

Major shareholder Billy Bowie said in a statement: "Kilmarnock FC is a family club and we want to make sure Rugby Park is an enjoyable and safe environment for people to enjoy watching football.

We'll see if we take any future allocations in the stand'.
