Injuries ease for Stevie G as squad flies to Europe

As Rangers fly to Gibraltar, Steven Gerrard has confirmed his final man squad for the UEL clash tomorrow.

Naturally Jon McLaughlin has been pretty impressive in his place, and McGregor’s place back in the squad doesn’t mean he gets his place back in the XI, but it’s good to know an injury case may now be over.

In the days of Wes, McGregor had no competition – his understudy wasn’t in the same class, and Wes was never a serious choice.

And it’s also reassuring to know Rangers appear to have two very serious contenders for the number one shirt – and that the primary one now has genuine competition for the shirt.

McGregor had a knee issue, and it’s obviously kept him sidelined for weeks, but his scan at the weekend has come back as not bad enough to keep him home as well, and he returns to the squad for the first time in around a month.

And the news is good for Allan McGregor whose scan at the weekend at least allows him to travel overseas, unlike the stricken Leon Balogun and Brandon Barker who remain at home instead.

He’s now fit and available to try to do that.
