Joe Aribo has revealed his delight at earning a maiden international call-up with Nigeria.

The Rangers midfielder is English-born but has always spoken of his hope of playing for the Super Eagles, the country of his parents' birth.

''My agent was the first person to inform me that I was invited to the Super Eagles.

Aribo has been in fine form for Rangers since moving north of the border and his call-up is further evidence that criticism from Charlton boss Lee Bowyer and former manager Chris Powell was uncalled for.

Speaking to, Aribo said: ''I am very happy, it is a dream come true to receive the call-up.

The midfielder will hope to make his Nigeria in the clash against Ukraine in September.

All of those have come in the Europa League with goals against St Joseph's, Progres Niederkorn and Midtjylland.
