Rangers have successfully defended Jon Flanagan on a dramatic day at Hampden.

Rangers then released a scathing statement that questioned the SFA disciplinary process.

“We shall vigorously defend Mr Flanagan and have also asked for full transparency on what matters are brought forward for retrospective action.

“It seems as if Rangers’ players are being held to a different code of conduct from players at other clubs.

Although referee Kevin Clancy booked the full-back for the flashpoint, SFA compliance officer felt the forearm smash merited more than a yellow card and cited Flanagan.

Flanagan had been offered a two-match ban after he lashed out at Scott Brown during last weekend’s win over Celtic at Ibrox.

Flanagan, 26, is now free to face Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday in the final game of the season.
