Celtic and Rangers fans won't like Neil Warnock's desire to manage a side that stops both clubs from winning the Scottish Premiership title.

The Hoops have won eight consecutive league titles and each of the last nine domestic titles on offer above the border.

No other club other than Celtic and Rangers have won the league title since Sir Alex Ferguson's Aberdeen's back to back triumphs in 1984 and 85.

Cardiff boss Warnock has now revealed that one of his managerial targets was to lead either Hibernian or Hearts to a title challenge.

"No disrespect to the big two but I've always been an underdog and I've always thought: 'I wish I could get a club up there and get a team to rival Celtic and Rangers'."

Rangers were tipped to challenge Celtic for the title this season but a 2-0 home defeat to their Glasgow rivals dented their hopes before the international break.

"Dalglish said in the Sunday Post:"I have to say there is no doubt Celtic will take a bit of stopping.
