Alfredo Morelos grabbed a second-half leveller to save Rangers from another humiliating home defeat.

But, although the striker’s 29th goal of the season won his team a point, it was a fourth game without a win as Steven Gerrard’s season continues to disintegrate.

After being thumped 5-0 at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup a month ago, their response was strong as they stood firm following Morelos ’ equaliser approaching the midway point of the second period.

Morelos has now scored nine times against Killie this season.

Having lost in the Scottish Cup to Aberdeen four days previously, Rangers’ flickering hopes of somehow finding a way back into the title race are again close to being extinguished after another sub-par show.

Steve Clarke’s Kilmarnock fought valiantly for their point having taken the lead through sub Conor McAleny in the opening period.
