Scunthorpe United want to bring Rangers goalkeeper Jak Alnwick back on loan for the remainder of the season, after impressing manager Stuart McCall during his initial spell at the club, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

The 25-year-old made 24 appearances for the League One outfit before his short-term loan expired and he returned to Rangers.

With trophies being played for being now and May, Rangers must ensure they have the best back-up available to the outstanding McGregor, whose form has ensured he is absolutely undroppable.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the Scunthorpe boss said: We have had liasons with Rangers and at the end of the day, it is down to what Rangers want to do.

The feedback we are getting is that they are quite happy with Jak staying on loan until the end of the season.

Perhaps the only thing standing in the way of Alnwick’s return to England is the status of Wes Foderingham.

Rangers are away in Tenerife at the moment on their winter break and they are discussing all loan players, of which they have a few out.
