Alfredo Morelos bagged a brace and set up another as Rangers cruised into a Europa League playoff showdown against Legia Warsaw with victory over Midtjylland at Ibrox.

Morelos took his tally to nine for the season with goals in either half and the Colombian also set up Sheyi Ojo who was a standout in the 3-1 victory.

But the work was done by then and Rangers can now look forward to a trip to Poland for next week’s first leg, after this weekend’s Betfred Cup trip to East Fife, as they look to seal a return to the Europa League group stage.

The Gers boss pointed to rivals Celtic’s exit on Tuesday as a warning after they did the hard part in Romania only to lose at home to Cluj.

Those losses came away to Spartak Moscow and Rapid Vienna in last season’s Europa League group stage and Legia Warsaw now stand in their way of a return.

Steven Gerrard continued his incredible European record as a manager with just two defeats as Rangers boss against continental opposition.

But Sheyi Ojo, left on the bench in Denmark but restored for the Hibs game, produced a brilliant display alongside Alfredo Morelos who came in for Defoe after his two-goal cameo against Hibs.
