Referee Bobby Madden admitted he didn't see the incident in full, thus allowing a review and an upgrade to a red card offence.

Rangers has no option other than to accept this decision.

Rangers reacted to McGregor's ban by issuing a statement calling for an overhaul of the SFA's judicial procedures - the second time in three months they have asked for action.

"Rangers has been in dialogue with the Scottish FA on this topic for some time and would urge that the system is now thoroughly reviewed as a matter of extreme urgency."

Back in December, Rangers called for changes after the club was hammered for comments made about ref Willie Collum.

Rangers' statement claimed Collum had underlying issues that needed to be addressed, and insisted others shared concerns about flaws in his refereeing.

Rangers' hackles have been further raised this week after Alfredo Morelos was sent off in the same game against Aberdeen and failed to win his appeal against a three-game ban.
