In our Loan Watch feature series, the Football Transfer Tavern takes a look at how a selection of players from a particular club are faring whilst they are away from their parent side, and provide a brief update regarding their form.

With the international break set to take centre stage once again, it would appear to be an opportune time to take a look at how a selection of players have been performing away from Rangers and see what they have been able to achieve during their current loan spells.

Jake Hastie

Jake Hastie may have only moved to Ibrox in the summer after completing a pre-contract agreement to join from Motherwell, however the 21-year-old has been playing his football south of the Scottish border for Rotherham United.

Indeed, the £405k-rated winger (per Transfermarkt) has been performing to a reasonable standard for the League One outfit and his performances would have surely raised a few eyebrows in Glasgow.

The 21-year-old has three goals in five league appearances so far and played 79 minutes of Rotherham’s demolition of Coventry City at the weekend, although he did not feature for the Millers in their 3-2 win against Doncaster Rovers in the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening.

Interestingly, Hastie will come up against Jak Alnwick in his next league meeting as Rotherham will travel to Blackpool at the weekend for their League One clash.

Jak Alnwick

Speaking of Alnwick, he is, of course, another Rangers loanee that has been sent out on loan to find regular minutes, and perhaps, seal a permanent switch away from Ibrox with the likes of Allan McGregor, Wes Foderingham and Robbie McCrorie all likely above him in the pecking order.

The 26-year-old has been a mainstay for the Tangerines this season, as he has played in 12 League One matches so far and has kept four clean sheets, with his latest coming in the 0-0 draw with Bolton Wanderers on Monday night (WhoScored).

Blackpool currently sit fourth in the league and will be looking to do all they can to close the gap on runaway leaders Ipswich Town at the top of the division.

Jordan Rossiter

It could be said that Jordan Rossiter is an individual that has not had the best of times whilst at Rangers, as he has made just 16 appearances in the time he has been at Ibrox (per Transfermarkt).

Indeed, injuries have taken their toll on the former Liverpool man, as the midfielder has missed 94 matches for the Light Blues over the last three years or so, however it appears he is getting his career back on track at Fleetwood Town.

Still only 22-years-old, Rossiter has managed to make 12 appearances for former Ger Joey Barton’s side this season and has chipped in with an assist, although he was unable to prevent his side from being beaten by Ipswich at the weekend (BBC).

The midfielder will not be in action this weekend though, as Fleetwood’s trip to Sunderland has been postponed because of the international break (Chronicle).

Although all three men appear to be some way from being in Steven Gerrard’s first-team plans at the moment, it will be pleasing to see that they have all been getting valuable minutes on the field.

Hastie is the one individual most likely to be afforded a chance of playing for the Light Blues in the future and it would seem he has been putting in some encouraging performances in the middle of the park.

Rossiter looks to be getting back on track as he clocks up the minutes with some mileage and, perhaps, has a chance in the future to show why he was brought to the club in the first place.

Alnwick is likely going to be in the shop window though, however his performances for Blackpool this season might just encourage potential suitors in the future to try and take him away from Ibrox permanently.
