Rangers crashed out of the Scottish Cup at the hands of Aberdeen earlier this week and the eight-point gap to Celtic in the league table looks too big to overcome with nine games remaining.

Ex-England skipper Gerrard had high hopes for the season when Rangers went level at the top with their Old Firm rivals after a historic 1-0 victory at Ibrox in December.

"I've picked myself back up and I can guarantee you that I will improve personally moving forward," Gerrard said ahead of the Kilmarnock clash.

Despite the brief optimism, Rangers fans have seen their hopes dwindle, with their bitter rivals on course to win an eight-consecutive league crown.

"My confidence hasn't changed that I can make that happen but it's not going to happen overnight," Gerrard continued.

Liverpool legend Gerrard admits that change is a certainly in the summer, with loan players set to rejoin their parent clubs and Alfredo Morelos likely to receive heavy interest from abroad. "There will be change here, there'll be new players, there'll be better players because the current players need some help and support to keep growing and keep improving," Gerrard continued.

Rangers face Kilmarnock at Ibrox on Saturday as they look to bounce back from cup disappointment with three points in the league.
