Rangers player ratings vs Kilmarnock: Pair flop with 3/10 as Gerrard's side lose ground

Rangers are all-but out of the Scottish Premiership title race after a 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock at Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard’s side dominated for much of the match but went behind after a mistake from Allan McGregor allowed Conor McAleny to sneak in and score.

Gers struggled for fluency in a physical clash but eventually drew level when Alfredo Morelos turned and struck a fine finish past the impressive Daniel Bachmann.

Both sides went close to an equaliser but couldn’t find a way through, with the draw leaving Rangers seven points behind Celtic having played one game more.

Express Sport has rated how the Rangers players performed against Kilmarnock, but do you agree?

Rangers player ratings vs Kilmarnock – Scottish Premiership

GK: Allan McGregor – 3

Went in the book for his protestations after a penalty appeal was turned down.

Was then made to look foolish as he was caught in no-man’s land with McAleny easily rounding the veteran and slotting home.

RB: James Tavernier – 5

Worked Bachmann with a free-kick as Rangers dominated but then wasted further chances as he spent most of the afternoon on the front foot.

CB: Connor Goldson – 5

Not a comfortable afternoon with the Gers defence looking all over the place at times.

Went in the book for a cynical late challenge.

CB: Nikola Katic – 5

Suffered a clash of heads with Stephen O’Donnell and was forced off for treatment.

Communication with Goldson was poor on occasions as the pair struggled to contain Kilmarnock.

LB: Andy Halliday – 3

Poor delivery from set-pieces contributed to his early substitution, with the left-back sacrificed at the break.

CM: Glen Kamara – 4

Found it difficult to make his mark against a physical midfield.

CM: Lassana Coulibaly – 6

Was one of Rangers’ better players in a sluggish first half, with the midfielder snapping away at the opposition in a performance full of energy.

It was Coulibaly’s first start since Boxing Day and he looked keen to make an impression, but the Malian faded as the game went on.

CM: Steven Davis – 7

A bright, forceful display with the veteran breaking well from midfield and forcing Bachmann into a decent save.

Went close again with a dipping effort that drew another stop as he looked to lead by example.

RAM: Daniel Candeias – 4

Very quiet afternoon as he failed to provide much of a creative spark against a packed defence.

LAM: Ryan Kent – 7

Got the crowd going with a burst off the left wing, exchanging passes with Davis before forcing Bachmann into an easy stop.

Kent’s pace troubled the Killie defence all afternoon, although Rangers did not utilise him enough and his final ball lacked accuracy when they did.

ST: Alfredo Morelos – 7

Huge penalty shout denied as his shot was blocked by an arm, having been set up by Tavernier.

Lost his cool at half-time and got involved in some handbags as the players made their way down the tunnel, but hit back with a smart turn and finish to bring his side level.

SUB: Borna Barisic (on for Halliday, 45 mins) – 4

Brought on at half-time but delivery from wide did not improve.

SUB: Eros Grezda (on for Candeias, 45 mins) – 4

Looked rusty on his first appearance since before Christmas, having finally recovered from an ankle injury.

SUB: Jermain Defoe (on for Coulibaly, 63 mins) – 5

Posed a different problem for Killie as Rangers went for all three points and trickled a shot just past the post.
