The club have already brought in a multitude of experienced players from the English leagues in recent transfer windows, most notably Jermain Defoe, Steven Davis and Gareth McAuley.

Rangers are interested in signing Derby County midfielder Craig Bryson this January, as reported by The Daily Record.

Given his quality and experience, he would immediately compete for first-team places with Scott Arfield, Ryan Jack and Steven Davis in the middle of the park.

The Record report that the £1.35m-rated (Transfermarkt) Bryson could arrive at the club on a free transfer, with his current contract at Derby due to expire at the end of this season.

Since leaving Kilmarnock in 2011, Bryson has made over 260 appearances in the English Championship, with his standout season coming in 2013/14 when he scored 16 goals and created 14 assists from midfield.

The move is said to be spearheaded by assistant manager Gary McAllister and Derby could be keen to simply shed him from their wage bill, freeing up Rangers to pick up an excellent bargain.

All have played extensively at the top end of English football and it seems we’re intent on adding another player who has a long and successful career behind him.
