Rangers have offered a contract to Tyrese Campbell as interest in the Stoke City striker hots up, according to a report in Football Insider.

Is Tyrese Campbell the sort of striker Rangers should be looking to sign?

The Gers aren’t the only club said to be interested with Old Firm rivals, Celtic and various Premier League clubs said to be looking at the son of former Arsenal and Everton forward, Kevin Campbell.

Rumours of the Light Blues being linked with the England under-20 international have been around for several days now and it looks as tough they have made their move, the former Manchester City academy graduate is out of contract in the summer and Rangers would be able to secure his signature for a knockdown price – believed to be in the region of £400k – due to the cross border transfer regulations.

Rangers fans will be excited at the prospect of signing such a talented youngster without a huge outlay as their city rivals splash out £3.5m on a 21-year-old from Poland who has only played 18 games in the countries top flight.

Rangers will be hoping that the Steven Gerrard factor can once again play a key role in luring a highly regarded English prospect north in a similar move to that of Joe Aribo‘s in the summer.

Sporting director, Ross Wilson has already proven that he can work miracles by negotiating a fee and sell on clause for Eros Grezda, persuading Campbell to sign for the Ibrox side could well be the next trick up his sleeve.
