Rangers starlet Ross McCrorie has become the first high profile Scottish player to test positive for coronavirus.

“It’s obviously a worrying time for their extended family but the boys are in the best hands possible.” A Portsmouth statement said: " Portsmouth Football Club can confirm that Ross McCrorie has tested positive for coronavirus.

"All five players displayed mild or no symptoms, but are self-isolating in accordance with government guidelines."

An Ibrox source said: “Ross is back up the road and was showing signs of the symptoms and called the club doctors for help and advice.

They are also closely monitoring twin brother Robbie, on loan from the Light Blues to Livingston, as he shares an apartment with his sibling.

The defender, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Portsmouth, has been told to self-isolate and is under the care of Ibrox medics.

“Ross is fine and in good spirits and at this stage there is no cause for alarm, but Robbie is also being monitored as they share a place together.
