Rangers Director of Football Mark Allen has admitted a deal could be struck for former Chicago Fire defender Matt Polster, as he continues to train with Steven Gerrard’s side in Tenerife.

Polster is something of an unfamiliar face at the winter training camp, included in group training to challenge Celtic in the second half of the season.

As a budget signing it makes a lot of sense and I’m keen to see the deal get over the dotted line after further evaluation of his talents.

Mark Allen provided an update on his potential signature this week, telling The Daily Record: Matt Polster is here and we are continuing to evaluate on that one.

He has to look at it and say is Rangers for him and he have to say is he for Rangers.

He was on trial with Rangers back in December and has clearly impressed enough to be given a second look.

With Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis already arriving this month, we haven’t been slow in getting deals done and it would seem likely that Polster is the next to commit his playing future to Glasgow.
