Many Rangers fans have looked back with disdain on the five-year anniversary of a galling defeat in a cup semi-final.

Alloa came back from 2-0 down to beat us 3-2 in the Challenge Cup Semi-Final at Recreation Park.

I was in the Alloa end, hearing them gloat about beating Rangers (those who hadn’t left at 2-0) and realising we would still be in that cup next season.. looking back though, most significant fact was it was Lewis Macleod’s last game for us?

pic.twitter.com/7XqBpxD7YT After a goalless first half at Recreation Park, goals from Kenny Miller and Dean Shiels had Rangers in a dominant position on 64 minutes.

With Rangers now being kept off the top of the Premiership by just one goal, these Light Blues fans on Twitter cringed when looking back to the defeat to Alloa five years ago: This was the lowest.

As noted by @RangersFACTS on Twitter, yesterday marked five years to the day since the ‘Gers threw away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 to Alloa in the semi-finals of the Scottish Challenge Cup (as per BBC).

We played Alloa 5 times that season & beat them only once.
