Steven Gerrard has made the most of the two transfer windows he has been involved in at Rangers so far.

One move, however, that has not worked out as well it was hoped, is Eros Grezda.

Rangers have backed Gerrard with the funds to take Rangers into a new era and he has wasted no time putting it to good use.

In the summer, nine players were brought in on a permanent deal and five on loans deals, with three loans currently still in place.

Grezda’s challenge for game time will only increase with the addition of Jones in the summer and Kent seemingly wanted on a permanent deal judging by Director of Football, Mark Allen’s comment (as per the Daily Record): “We would certainly like to pursue what we do next with Ryan but that is a conversation we have to have with Liverpool.” In that case, the 23-year-old would either have to settle for a lesser role in the squad or seek options elsewhere as Gerrard could overlook Grezda in favour of other options who could produce a greater attacking output.

Grezda has not been particularly poor consistently, it is just that the likes of Daniel Candeias, Ryan Kent and Glenn Middleton especially, have been so impressive it is hard for Grezda to warrant a place in that starting side week-in-week-out.

Already in January, Gerrard will have forked out loan fee’s for Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis, as well as signing Jordan Jones and Glen Kamara on pre-contract agreements from fellow Scottish sides Kilmarnock and Dundee.
