Steve Clarke has hit back at claims Kilmarnock were too physical – and reckons Rangers were the only team who deserved a red card.

He said: “There was an incident – I’ve seen it back on video, something definitely happened.

The Rugby Park side kept themselves in contention for Europe with a precious point at Ibrox – but they were slaughtered by Steven Gerrard for what he claims were rough-house tactics.

He said: “Jordan was fit, just not selected.

But Clarke snapped: “We were competitive, start to finish.

The referee ran the game as he saw fit, and if there was going to be a red card, it would’ve been for Rangers.

“I picked the team with a certain way of playing in mind, and I couldn’t find a space for him on the bench.”
