Steven Davis insists he will be happy to stay at Rangers beyond his six-month deal.

But despite only penning a six-month loan deal the 34-year-old still aims to be at Ibrox longer term.

And he has set his sights on ending an eight-year wait for Rangers to win major silverware and adding to his eight winner’s medals from his first spell.

With Gers second in the Premiership on goal difference after their Old Firm derby win before the winter break, the Northern Ireland captain said: “I am a better player than the one that left Rangers but you are always learning.

“It would be nice to come back and achieve that.” Meanwhile, Eros Grezda faces a spell on the sidelines after being pictured in crutches at Gers’ Tenerife camp.

The six-month thing was done so I could get out here and join the boys.” Davis insists his means Steven Gerrard is getting a much better player than the one who left Ibrox six-and-a-half years ago.

The boys are really pushing under the new manager because we all know it’s been a while since the club won a major trophy.
