Rangers loanee Glenn Middleton has been told by Stuart McCall, his manager at Bradford, that he will need to be patient in awaiting first team opportunities at Valley Parade.

If Rangers had been hoping that Middleton would obtain regular first team football with his loan moves away from Ibrox, they have since been left sorely disappointed, and McCall’s plea for patience does not bode greatly for a young player whose career has hit an impasse in recent months.

Rangers fans, are you concerned by McCall’s message to Middleton?

The Daily Record reported that ex-‘Gers player McCall has urged the 20-year-old winger to be ready to take his chance whenever he is called upon, with the youngster yet to make an appearance for the English League Two club since joining them on loan in last month’s transfer window.

The Bradford manager told the Daily Record that he had considered giving Middleton a run in their 3-1 win over Stevenage on Tuesday night but opted not to introduce him as he felt his attributes wouldn’t be suited to the wintry weather conditions.

Rangers duly decided to recall him from his abortive loan spell in Edinburgh just after Christmas.

Even in the early stages of his career, patience is a virtue that Middleton has frequently had to call upon.
