Gary McAllister hopes the "penny is dropping" with Alfredo Morelos over his costly indiscipline after seeing the striker miss out on Colombia's Copa America squad.

McAllister said: "Alfredo has had an amazing season.

He said: "I agreed it was a yellow card.

What the referee saw and gave, we were in support of that.

"I thought when you'd been given a yellow card, you couldn't be cited.

The fact is Jon is our player, we just thought it was a coming together and what the ref gave we agreed with."

The Rangers frontman has bagged 29 goals this season but will not be featuring for his national team this summer after boss Carlos Queiroz admitted he could not rely on a player who has been sent off five times this season.
