Rangers have been informed that their appeal against the striker’s booking for diving has been rejected.

Morelos was booked by Kevin Clancy in the first half of their 2-0 Scottish Cup quarter-final defeat to Aberdeen for simulation.

The Colombian hit the deck as he battled with defender Andrew Considine.

Pictures later showed that Morelos could feel slightly hard done by.

But Rangers’ appeal was firmly rejected by the Scottish FA.

It means that he will now be banned for the first Scottish game of next season, should he remain at Ibrox beyond the summer.

Rangers have put a £20m price tag on his head in an effort to deter suitors.

Former Celtic forward Chris Sutton is renowned for stirring the pot and his honest verdict on the incident is that Morelos has made a reputation for himself, which hasn’t helped his cause.

Former Rangers midfielder Alex Rae posted a picture of the contact from Considine, tweeting: “A panel of 3 individuals looked at this and said the ref was right to book Morelos for diving. No seriously am not joking couldn’t make it up embarrassing decision.”

Sutton didn’t hesitate to try and wind up Rae even more.

“Very difficult for referees when a player has a bit of a reputation for diving... the boy who cried wolf…”

The comments will not be received well by ‘Gers boss Steven Gerrard, who is currently feeling the heat after a few poor results.

Morelos has received four red cards this season, three of which have come against Aberdeen who clearly have some success trying to wind him up.
