What Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard said when asked if he hates Everton and Man Utd

Gerrard wrote his name in the Reds’ history books during a 26-year spell with his boyhood club, during which he won seven major trophies.

He has been tipped to return to Liverpool as manager one day and is currently cutting his teeth at Glasgow giants Rangers.

Gerrard is a guest on the first episode of his former Liverpool team-mate Peter Crouch’s new Back of the Net show.

And during a quick-fire question and answer session with Crouch, he helped further ensure he will head back to Merseyside with fans’ backing.

Crouch asked Gerrard to pick between beating Everton or Manchester United, to which he replied: "That’s like… that’s like which one of the Kardashians that. It’s tough. Erm… I can’t."

Crouch followed up his original question by asking: "Can’t… yeah really… hate both of them?"

Gerrard, with a smile on his face all the while, said: "Er, I don’t… yeah. I hate both of them, yeah."

Liverpool and Everton’s Merseyside rivalry is often seen as one of the most friendly in football, despite their close proximity.

However, the nature of the relationship with north-west neighbours United is still as fiery as ever.

Liverpool and United kicked off the new Premier League campaign with wins over Norwich and Chelsea respectively.

They will meet for the first time this season on October 19, with the return fixture at Anfield on January 18.

Current United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stoked the flames back in February when he trolled Liverpool fans over their title aspirations.

"I have loads of Liverpool fans back home and every year is going to be their year," Solskjaer said. "It has got to October and it's: 'Ok, next year.'

"Now they are in the race so now for them it is going to be an exciting finish to the league.

"That is none of our concern. We just have to concentrate on ourselves."

Next up for Liverpool are Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup, with United and Everton set to face Wolves and Watford respectively in the Premier League.
